Thanksgiving

1 Thessalonians 5:18 - In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

The word “THANKSGIVING” takes on a whole new meaning for me this year as I am sure it does with you as well.  Looking back over the roller coaster of what has been 2020, I am reminded of just how good and faithful God really is to us.  There have been times this year when I had to pray for things that I never imagined mentioning in my prayer time; terms like toilet paper, paper towels and Lysol.  Looking back I am truly thankful that I know what it means to truly rely on God.

There have been times since the last Thanksgiving season that I have questioned and wondered if God was truly aware of everything that was going on in my life.  See I knew he had never left me, but sometimes I still felt alone.  I remember one day sitting in my living room with my family and instantly I was convicted for not being as grateful as I should be.  I had spent so much time looking at what 2020 had taken away from us: school events, ball games, regular church services and connectivity that I had not realized that God had given me more quality time to spend with my family.  Our kids are growing up fast and this is Josh’s last year of High School, I had anticipated him being very busy this year with school, baseball, football and all that goes along with Senior year.  I have to admit that I have missed not going to watch him play ball, but I don’t miss the hectic nature of our everyday lives.  We have spent more time together as a family, EATING dinner, watching TV, discussing the Bible and how close we are to The Lords’ Return.  I have chosen to focus on the positive side of 2020: we are closer to His Return, we have our family, our church family and all the necessities of life.

For the rest of 2020 I am choosing to focus on the great things God has done throughout the year, especially during this Thanksgiving season.

Philippians 4:6 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Psalms 107:1 - O give thanks unto the LORD, for [he is] good: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.

Ephesians 5:20 - Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
