My Counselor

As I have been preparing for Sunday services during this Christmas season my heart leaps with joy and encouragement as the Holy Spirit reminds me of my wonderful counselor.   Jesus is not just my counselor, but He is your counselor as well.  The word counselor means “to advise, counsel, purpose, devise and plan.” It refers to His role as the leader and guiding force of our lives. He is wonderfully qualified for this job.  All throughout the Bible we find where the Lord desires to lead His people and counsel His people in the ways of righteousness. I would like to take a few moments to share a few truths about why He is so qualified to be my counselor.
For me He has:

1. The Age and the experience according to Daniel 7:9; Hebrews 4:15.

2. He has the knowledge - Acts 1:24; I John 3:20

3. He has the education - Isaiah 40: 13-14

4. His price is right - Isaiah 55:1

5. He is always available - Matt. 28:20

6. He always gives perfect advice - Hosea 14:9; Psa. 19:7-8

7. His motives are always Pure - I Pet. 5:7

In this Christmas season I am reminded of how good God is to me for allowing Jesus to be my wonderful counselor.  I don’t know how people make it without Him.  There is an old song that I use to hear that says “to me he’s become everything.”  Let Him be your everything and He will lead you in ways of blessing and favor!  Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
